About Marnita

Creating is central to her being and when Marnita is in the process it is rather etherial, a focus where nothing else exists except for herself and the materials, the textures, the colors, how they feel, look and work beside each other…do they talk to one another, create contrast, pattern, soothe, please, cause curiosity – make you look again and discover something new! This has been Marnita's world of everything art since she first put her hands in a vat of pulpy paper some 20+ years ago when she was bitten by the Hand Made Paper bug.

Marnita's works have been shown throughout the Eastern U.S. and Italy. She has exhibited works in Juried, Invitational, One Person, Group Shows, and Art Festivals, amassing a number of awards as listed below.  Additionally, she has pieces in Private and Corporate collections in the U.S. as well as Italy

Marnita Patton is an Artist, Art Educator and Art Therapist working with children and assisted living/memory care adults in the Central Florida area of Altamonte Springs.  She graduated with a B.S. in Art Education and a M.A. in Art Psychotherapy with minors in Art History and Art Studio from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  While still enrolled in college, Marnita also studied sculpture, painting, drawing, and fresco abroad in Lucca, Italy.  Her future artistic goal is to focus on combining paper, clay, and silk painting in two dimensional work, sculptural figures and container forms and embellishing these with textural items.
